EOG Resources, Inc. Names Donald F. Textor to Board of Directors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Monday, March 19, 2001

EOG Resources, Inc. announced today that Donald F. Textor, former Goldman Sachs partner and managing director, has been appointed to its Board of Directors, effective immediately.

"We are pleased to welcome Don with his wealth of financial and industry knowledge to our board. His perspective on the exploration and production industry will be an invaluable asset," said Mark G. Papa, chairman and chief executive officer.

Mr. Textor recently retired from Goldman Sachs after a 21-year career with the firm as the senior security analyst for domestic integrated oils and exploration and production companies. For the past 21 years, Mr. Textor was ranked as a top exploration and production industry analyst in the Institutional Investor "All-America Research Team" survey. He is a member of the National Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts. A resident of Locust Valley, New York, Mr. Textor holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Lehigh University. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 1980, Mr. Textor was an oil analyst with First Boston.

Mr. Textor will initially serve on the EOG Compensation and International Strategy Committees.
